Augme® Technologies' predecessor operated under the name Surfnet Media Group in the 1990s. In 2005, the company restructured and was renamed Modavox and later that year merged with Phoenix-based technology company, Kino Interactive, Inc. At the end of 2008, Modavox began the process of purchasing Augme® Mobile. In February 2010, the company was renamed Augme® Technologies, Inc.
